Clive Wearing, the worst case of amnesia
His Story
Clive Wearing, once a British musician, got a virus in 1985. This virus attacked his brain, causing severe amnesia. His short term memory was severly affected, and he is no longer able to remember what happened just a few seconds prior. He is still able to rember that he has a wife, but he is unable to remember the last time he saw her. Every time she walks in the room, he greets her like he hadn't seen her in years. Conversations with Clive are quite interesting, I would advise looking at some youtube videos to see the severity of his amnesia. One extraordinary thing is that while Clive thinks he cannot play the piano, if he is put on the piano, he automatically starts playing beautiful pieces of music. This indicates his short-term memory was affected by the virus, however his long-term memory is intact.
